  • the return.

Well after a long hiatus from public expression i have returned to you, my fellow introverts, with much to spill onto this little white box. This is going to be a short entry. Undoubtedly followed by a long, harsh, painstaking entry that will most likely ruin your day. Consider this your warning. Now that i am back in the expressional mood I look for questions or recommendations as to topics for my inexorable rants. as always, cheers.

  • Its been a while but now that I'm back in school I guess its time for me to spill my reckless rhetoric back on you and yours. This day? The philosophy of horror. Fear in a new age, the gradual trend of concern as seen by us lately and the direction our fear will tend to stray.

        Economic Epidemic

As we all know these are tough economic times for the peon consumer (thats a peon who is a consumer now one who consumes peons). Our gratuitous spending and precarious economic control have sent the citizenship of the US back to digging between the sofa cushions. The term being thrown around now is "Recession" but in reality it is more of a depression. But was this brought on ourselves by our own government? Absurd you say? Well, generally speaking in terms of history war proves to be an outstanding venture for our economy. This is attributed to increased nationalism and domestic preference in the face of global conflict. However this war is far extreme. It seems to be stagnant and no one even knows why we are still involved. Dare I say government propaganda? Well think about it, the government has been coaxing us into wars for all our history and what makes this one any different? Also, the main reason behind our current economic dilemma is the decrease in consumer confidence. And why is there no consumer confidence? Because the mainstream media is telling us there is a recession. If we weren't told we were in a slide would we even be in one? I don't think we would. Personally I don't buy into the recession. I'm just going to spend how I have. Even though I am a college student and my demographic isn't exactly the most contributing to our economic wellbeing I encourage you to follow me into this darkness. Don't let fox news scare you. By all means don't do anything extreme but do your part to help this so called struggling economy. Hope I was even relatively insightful but again remember, I'm not an economist, I'm not even a business major. I'm just a mason with the will to build and a little advice.

  • Not for the fleet of heart.

Upon further examination of various proofs for the existence of god (cause thats just what i do.) it can be said that the evidence (in a logical context) leads us on a wayward path. As the be all and and end all of paradox, the concept of god is the pinnacle of abstract thought. To honor the being of an existence beyond existence is is irrational and illogical. We cannot in any sense of truth empirically prove the existence of god, now or ever. The driving force of the existential confirmation of God is faith. Thomas Aquinas tells us that faith and reason sync to exemplify the knowledge of the universe. He states that reason alone can tell us everything up to the fact THAT god exists and that we must look to our faith to discover anything about god (such as the trinity or who god is). Reason looks at god in a discord, on one hand reason can tell us that god is a necessity because without god in the most fundamental sense the universe has no origin. On the polar, reason tells us god cannot exist because god has never been seen or evidently existed. This certainly creates a massive dichotomy within the concept of reason vs. god. I think it is safe to say that the concept of god is the most socially relevant and important issue in the history of human time.

    Thomas Aquinas!

The issue of evil is a tough one for some religions, especially those with an omnipotent god. However this issue could be the key to proving the existence of god. The concept here is who is to be the judge of good? Of evil? We've never had to be told  that homicide of an innocent person will have severe collateral side effects. These effects on the social side are irrelevant to this argument so distance them from your mind. The emotional side effects are what are important here. It seems as though we are programmed to induce the sustainability of innocent life. We grieve and mourn at unreasonable killing. The fact that evil exists and that we cognitively recognize it proves that god exists. Everyday thought and actions sway heavily toward the good side and not the evil proves the influence of god. The knowledge of wrong and right is unlearned and is therefore a transmission from the mind of god into our souls. God exists because he sets the standards of good and evil, transmits them and enforces them.

However, this cannot be. Evil is only present in light of dogmatic morality. It is expressed to us through sociological overtones and subliminal extraction through the guidance of our actions. Think of it this way: Before organized religion do you think it was considered bad if you killed your neighbor if he was winning all the food and was unworthy? Primal law is withstanding and  nessesary  to the  continuation and preservation of species. The weak by body used their strength of mind to instill the morals of equality to all, even the genetic misfits and failures of natural selection. It is our first instance of playing god. We now choose who to keep alive and who dies. Every person is now on equal ground, we all survive by the aid of modern advances in medicine and technology. The meek have inherited the earth though the mind control of the populous. Religion is an invaluable tool in this argument. Religion is the judge here. It keeps the rouge masses in check by the threat of an unknown. Salvation or Damnation are our omega, choose your path wisely or suffer the consequences. Sustain equality for all and an equal chance at Darwinian fitness and you shall make it to heaven or rather if you follow our doctrines you shall be saved from hell.

Soren Kiergegaard makes a wonderful argument for the individual saying:
"The worldly, temporal, busy, socially-friendly person says this: "How unreasonable, that only one should receive the prize, it is far more probable that several combined receive the prize; and if we become many, then it becomes more certain and also easier for each individually." Certainly, it is far more probable; and it is also true in relation to all earthly and sensuous prizes; and it becomes the only truth, if it is allowed to rule, for this point of view abolishes both God and the eternal and "the human being's" kinship with the divinity; it abolishes it or changes it into a fable, and sets the modern (as a matter of fact, the old heathen) in its place, so that to be a human being is like being a specimen which belongs to a race gifted with reason, so that the race, the species, is higher than the individual, or so that there are only specimens, not individuals."- Soren Kierkegaard from "Upbuilding Discourses in Various Spirits"

Religion is nothing more than an opiate for the masses. We look to it to guide us in our lives because our natural instinct drives us beyond the reason of religion. Our instinct is considered evil because it tells us to be selfish and to do what's best for us. Those who heed the call of instinct are looked down upon by society but should be praised for their internal fortitude and ability to take the left hand path from religion and into instinct, our truest knowledge. Descartes makes an argument saying that the epistemological knowledge of humans is our intuition. Our intuition is driven by our instinct. Therefore our instinct is our most essential knowledge. This deep rooted religious morality of equality can be evidence of a lasting Baldwin effect, saying that it has been introduced into our instinct and is beginning to be genetically passed.

It is far too late now to ever return to how things were and to rebuild a society based on the primality of our instincts and to follow the doctrines and paradigms of evolutionary development. We have new paradigms which are constantly bracketing our evolutionary progress as a species. No trait or evolutionary quality can go noticed now because there is no tail end, no one is dying anymore. We find that sad and it is immoral of me to have said that but it is a scientific ideal that in order for evolution to sustain there must be a control, which is the failure of some. In essence we are holding ourselves back.

I say all this as it is my opinion. You can call me a sinner, saint, heretic, herald, over-analyzer, revisionist, ignorant, Rhetorician, bad influence or anything else but my view is not subject to your critiques. I'm not trying to bring you on my side I'm just bringing you through my thought process. I hope you enjoyed my rant and I would love to hear your views. Have a good one.
    Cheers.

  • No gods, no managers.

After spending an insurmountable amount of time on the internet I have come to the brash realization that the untamed populace of the world does not have the slightest idea about the difference between Atheists and Agnostics. Yeah, there is a difference! People tend to think they are exactly the same because they lack the belief in a true god. I assure you there is a difference!

Agnosticism is the middle ground between atheism and theism. It basically says I don't know if there is or isn't a god because it hasn't been readily presented to me. They do not believe in god but yet do not throw out the notion of the fact that there might be a god or spiritual entity out there. On the other hand to atheists there is no idea of god what-so-ever. The word "god" to atheists is gibberish, having no meaning or significance to them. The last of these kind of beliefs that people misconstrue is Nihilism.  This belief is in the apathy of existence. It basically says my life means nothing of value. It is just an elongated chemical reaction. Heavy stuff. Well I hope this short blog was somewhat informative and maybe an influx of correct usage of these terms will arise. Only time will tell in the mean time I'm just going to continue to heed the call and constantly correct the perpetrators! I guess that makes me the non-god-terminology police. Works for me.
    Cheers.

  • Get to heaven.

The idea of god is individualistic. My non god or your god are both existing paradoxically. Faith drives us (or not) here. The idea that we have to do good to get into heaven is pretty absurd if you ask me. We should be good by nature. Good is also individualistic if you think about it. When we think beyond common morality (Don't kill, steal etc.) we find that the perception of good is altering via acculturation. For example in some cultures, distant ones at that, cannibalism is widely accepted and practiced. Also what about paganism? Animal sacrifice? Human sacrifice? Can we call these immoral and bad because they are unpracticed by our devout populous of Christian values? Who's to say that I won't see a Pagan or a Cannibal in heaven (barring that it exists and that I can get there)? We cannot judge our values based on the wrongs of other religious or cultural viewpoints. They may think it is completely insane to dunk a baby underwater shortly after its birth! (see baptism). It may not be as extreme as eating people or sacrificing them but Christianity is a pretty conservative religion.

    cannibalism!

The writers of Christianity used its conservative practice to round up the masses. It was less involved then much religions because all you had to do was worship! Go to church, sing a hymn or 42, pray before bed, stay good, and confess when you're not. Pretty simple stuff there, no need for a sacrifice because the theology of god kind of shifted from we must fear this god to god thinks we're alright. This brings me to the modern theology of god (via a loose overview). Today we are taught that god loves us. Also that god is all knowing, all kind and everywhere (omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent). This brings up some questions that I have for Christianity.
    Michaelangelo's depiction of god.

So, Christianity, about that god guy...
Why do i have to pray? If god is everywhere, all knowing and all powerful why do i have to ask him a question? Why must i beg for his salvation if he is all good? If i have to pray for it and be good for it wouldn't that make his help an act of mercy? By the aforementioned logic would that make the denial of gods assistance an unmerciful act? Isn't that malicious by nature? Why do i even have to ask if he is all knowing? Omniscience by nature is basically knowing the answer before it is asked? If god can see everything cant he see that I need him and will just answer my question without me asking it? Seems as though this god is contradictory at best. This reminds me of another argument..hmm.. oh yeah i remember now! its the Epicurean  view of the shortcomings of god! Here is a quote from Epicurus concerning god.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
    Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
    Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
    Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
    Then why call him God?”

Makes sense right? Christianity's biggest confusion is on its explanation of evil. Or lack thereof. So i ask this: If god is always there and all powerful and all knowing then honestly why must I be good to get into heaven? Who sets the standard of good? For me good could be living a hedonistic life of drugs, sex and debotchery. As long as I don't kill another out of impulse I'll see you in the clouds. Maybe in your mind I'm going to hell but in my own I'm going to heaven. Which brings me to my final point. Maybe even heaven is individualistic. My heaven and how I get there is different from your heaven. Using ontology I can depict my idea of heaven and you can depict yours and I can assure you they differ. Remove the media view of heaven as a kingdom in the clouds and forge your own heaven. Life your life with no regrets and I assure you'll get to heaven weather that be a castle in the sky or an endless stretch of beach on the central new jersey shore, the heaven you seek after is a fabrication of your own mind. It is your reward for a life lived well. So go out and be alive, meet as many people as you can and make everyday worthwhile and you will get to heaven.

Just to clear the air I am a Christian by birth and a skeptic by belief. I did not mean any offense by anything I said here and feedback is greatly encouraged.
    Cheers.
